Goals and priorities are not the same things – goals are results; priorities enable us to meet them, so identifying your Company Priority is a crucial step to attaining your business goals!
I recently shared this article on LinkedIn, Stop Firefighting and Start Leading, because I so agree with the damage a firefighting environment can have on organizations. Here I want to expand on another type of firefighting that I typically see in my mid-sized client companies – the crisis-focused firefighting that often requires us to stop all productive activity in order to fix the crisis.
We use the words “goals” and “priorities” more or less interchangeably or at least interdependently – like prioritized goals, which means the top goal is the priority… but that isn’t necessarily true!
